Meet our Founder

I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude for this journey and for every single person who has been a part of it. Melabiz Community Hub was built out of a need—a need for a safe, empowering space where our community could access resources, mentorship, and opportunities without barriers. But before I could build this, I had to live it, learn it, and experience it firsthand.
My name is Nesha Higgins, and my passion for advocacy, community building, and youth empowerment comes from years of working on the front lines. With over 15 years in nonprofit leadership and a track record of securing over $4 million in funding to support grassroots initiatives, I’ve dedicated my life to creating spaces where people don’t just survive—they thrive.
Originally from Milwaukee, my journey led me to Phoenix, where I worked with nonprofits focused on economic justice, racial equity, youth mentorship, and violence prevention. I’ve led teams, designed programs, and secured funding for organizations making a difference. But along the way, I noticed something missing.
I saw too many young people, returning citizens, single mothers, and underserved families struggling to find resources that truly met their needs. I saw talent, resilience, and untapped potential being overlooked. And I knew it was time to create a community-centered space that didn’t just serve people, but empowered them to build something greater. That’s how Melabiz Community Hub was born.
At Melabiz, we are more than just an organization—we are a movement. We provide mentorship, life skills training, violence prevention programs, job readiness support, crisis intervention, mental health resources, and so much more. And if we don’t have the resource, we’ll find it for you. Our digital and physical resource binders connect people with everything from housing and legal aid to wellness programs and community services. Because nobody should feel like they have to figure it all out alone.
This work is personal. I’ve faced hardships, I’ve overcome challenges, and I know what it means to need a second chance. That’s why I wake up every day committed to breaking cycles, uplifting others, and making sure no one in our community goes without.
I invite you to learn more about Melabiz Community Hub and everything we offer. Explore our website, reach out, get involved—because when one of us rises, we all do.
With gratitude and purpose,
Nesha Higgins
